Ex NFL (Cincinnati Bengals) Cheerleader Pleads Guilty

The line which caught my eye was...."no jail time and she won't have to register as a sex offender". I guess the question is why or why not? Is it because of the double standard that exists between male and female sex offenders? Is it because she pleaded guilty, which she rightly should if she is guilty. So the message to the growing population of high school teachers who become entangled in sexual relations with their students is; "if you're female you'll likely walk. If you're male maybe you'll be jailed. Either way this isn't serious, nothing you can't get around." I wonder when and how parents will have the peace of mind to know that their kids are at school being taught by respectable, knowlegdeable professionals and not fire crotches whose hormones are even more out of whack than that of the teenagers they're supposed to be teaching. Let's review what qualified for a free pass; inappropriate sexual relationship with a student lying to police tampering with evidence(defendant's mother) Read more on this story at;

  11. Jail time is not always the answer, especially with the overpopulation of our prisons and jails. Sometimes house arrest or another measure is just as good. But not being made to register as a sex offender...? That's ridiculous!!

  13. She should have been treated like a male defendant. Gotten the same punishment including the registry.

  19. I don't know if the headline is yours. I wasn't able to find the link to the original article. But, even the fact that instead of describing her as a high school teacher, it describes her as an ex-NFL cheerleader is problematic. My impression is that this is emphasizing the mindset that "she's an ex-NFL cheerleader, she must be hot" and taking the focus away from the fact that she is now an authority figure, role model, and trusted member of the community. Would a male teacher be described as an ex- fashion model, ex-nNFL football player?

  21. Think about it ,in NH a teacher, Mrs. Smart ,had some teenagers kill her husband. One crime leans to another.

  27. I think that there continues to be a double standard. Either way- teachers should never cross that line and take advantage of a non-adult.

  29. That is just wrong! We have had several in my area that have done the same thing but they did get jail time. DO NOT AGREE with this ruling at all!

  30. My son will be in high school in 2 years and this does not make me feel any better about letting him go and make his own decisions. I mean teachers are suppose to help lead and guide their students to become successful, productive citizens not have sex with them.

  37. I think it has EVERYTHING to do with a double-standard. Women by and large are seen as less threatening, that is exactly the variable at play here.

  38. This is so sad. I woman in a position of responsibility for children's welfare and she abuses that position. Shame on her. She will probably do it again; that makes it even sadder.

  39. I'm glad I don't have any kids in school. It's just ridiculous how much we are now hearing about this type of thing going on these days. It's also not fair that the female perpetrators don't get sentenced like their male counterparts.

  40. I don't get it. I can see the beauty in youth without being sexually attracted to it. I will just never understand the appeal of a "relationship" with essentially a child.

  43. Wow, as a parent this i disturbing, she should have to file as a sex offender as well as anyone else whether male or female.

  44. Things are totally different than it used to be. We have teachers of all sexes and orientations going after youngsters of all ages. Time will expose them. But it is truly sad male or female. I guess the female teachers dangle candy while the males are taking more advantage seeing that one has to get worked up in order to mate. Although in other countries past puberty is an adult.

  45. schools have changed so much than when I was in them, and it had changed when my kids was in school also. I don't think that any one person can cnange the schools it will take a community effort to take this one

  46. I think the biggest change in things is that people have few morals.

  47. I am glad I don't have children of either sex in school. For the most part the justice system is a revolving door...how many times do you see a violent crime reported and there is a laundry list of previous offenses for the perpetrator...some of them violent and some of them still pending and yet they give them bond and let them out on the street. Nothing surprises me any more. No, there should not be a double standard...none of them should be let back out on the street....ever!
