Ex NFL (Cincinnati Bengals) Cheerleader Pleads Guilty
The line which caught my eye was...."no jail time and she won't have to register as a sex offender". I guess the question is why or why not? Is it because of the double standard that exists between male and female sex offenders? Is it because she pleaded guilty, which she rightly should if she is guilty. So the message to the growing population of high school teachers who become entangled in sexual relations with their students is; "if you're female you'll likely walk. If you're male maybe you'll be jailed. Either way this isn't serious, nothing you can't get around."
I wonder when and how parents will have the peace of mind to know that their kids are at school being taught by respectable, knowlegdeable professionals and not fire crotches whose hormones are even more out of whack than that of the teenagers they're supposed to be teaching.
Let's review what qualified for a free pass;
inappropriate sexual relationship with a student
lying to police
tampering with evidence(defendant's mother)

ReplyDeleteThis world is getting more and more crazy.
ReplyDeleteSo crazy. I worry about my grand daughter....

ReplyDeleteits sad that double standards exist in 2015
ReplyDeletenot really fair to have two standards
ReplyDeleteJail time is not always the answer, especially with the overpopulation of our prisons and jails. Sometimes house arrest or another measure is just as good. But not being made to register as a sex offender...? That's ridiculous!!
ReplyDeleteThe world has become very scary! I fear the direction we're headed!
ReplyDeleteShe should have been treated like a male defendant. Gotten the same punishment including the registry.
ReplyDeleteA sex offender is a sex offender no matter male or female!
ReplyDeleteI just can't believe some of the things that happen now days. This is unbelievable. It will make others want to try getting away with things if this person was not prosecuted. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteIt seems that people are getting crazier all the time.
ReplyDeleteIt seems you can't be too careful at all, when it comes to supervising your children, be they boys or girls!! She should have been given a more harsh punishment. AND ongoing therapy.
ReplyDeleteSo glad my son not in high school great not safe for kids these days it seems. I worry about our children these days with so much going on in school
ReplyDeleteSon is in HS...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the headline is yours. I wasn't able to find the link to the original article. But, even the fact that instead of describing her as a high school teacher, it describes her as an ex-NFL cheerleader is problematic. My impression is that this is emphasizing the mindset that "she's an ex-NFL cheerleader, she must be hot" and taking the focus away from the fact that she is now an authority figure, role model, and trusted member of the community. Would a male teacher be described as an ex- fashion model, ex-nNFL football player?
ReplyDeleteit is crap either way and they should be severly punished.
ReplyDeleteThink about it ,in NH a teacher, Mrs. Smart ,had some teenagers kill her husband. One crime leans to another.
ReplyDeletePeople really are getting crazier every year
ReplyDeleteOh, my! You hear things like this so often any more. Don't know what the problem is...just seems like people have no morals or values any more. You don't know who to trust!
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on with the world today people are sick.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds absolutely crazy.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad what some people can get away with.
ReplyDeleteI feel that there is a double standard for men and women in this regard. I am so glad that my grandchildren are homeschooled.
ReplyDeleteI think that there continues to be a double standard. Either way- teachers should never cross that line and take advantage of a non-adult.
ReplyDeleteCrazy things happen now days. You never heard of thses things back in the day.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad!
ReplyDeleteThat is just wrong! We have had several in my area that have done the same thing but they did get jail time. DO NOT AGREE with this ruling at all!
ReplyDeleteMy son will be in high school in 2 years and this does not make me feel any better about letting him go and make his own decisions. I mean teachers are suppose to help lead and guide their students to become successful, productive citizens not have sex with them.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this happens very often compared to how many people teach in high schools.
ReplyDeleteI'm nervous just sending my child to elementary school, this doesn't make me feel any better about the future.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why this seems to be happening so often -- what are they thinking?
ReplyDeleteI really worry about my kids out in this crazy world nowadays.
ReplyDeleteI'm not real surprised as this has been the standard for many years.
ReplyDeletehome schooling sounds better everyday
ReplyDeleteI think it has EVERYTHING to do with a double-standard. Women by and large are seen as less threatening, that is exactly the variable at play here.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. I woman in a position of responsibility for children's welfare and she abuses that position. Shame on her. She will probably do it again; that makes it even sadder.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I don't have any kids in school. It's just ridiculous how much we are now hearing about this type of thing going on these days. It's also not fair that the female perpetrators don't get sentenced like their male counterparts.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. I can see the beauty in youth without being sexually attracted to it. I will just never understand the appeal of a "relationship" with essentially a child.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not a parent. This is very sad.

This day and age makes me realize how lucky I was as a child. I worry these days for my grandkids
ReplyDeleteWow, as a parent this i disturbing, she should have to file as a sex offender as well as anyone else whether male or female.
ReplyDeleteThings are totally different than it used to be. We have teachers of all sexes and orientations going after youngsters of all ages. Time will expose them. But it is truly sad male or female. I guess the female teachers dangle candy while the males are taking more advantage seeing that one has to get worked up in order to mate. Although in other countries past puberty is an adult.
ReplyDeleteschools have changed so much than when I was in them, and it had changed when my kids was in school also. I don't think that any one person can cnange the schools it will take a community effort to take this one
ReplyDeleteI think the biggest change in things is that people have few morals.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I don't have children of either sex in school. For the most part the justice system is a revolving door...how many times do you see a violent crime reported and there is a laundry list of previous offenses for the perpetrator...some of them violent and some of them still pending and yet they give them bond and let them out on the street. Nothing surprises me any more. No, there should not be a double standard...none of them should be let back out on the street....ever!
ReplyDeleteI just can't believe some of the things that happen now days.
ReplyDeleteThere is a double standard for men and women. I really believe that women are not treated near as harshly as men are when it comes to this.

It shows how our society is sinking deeper and deeper into depravity. there are no more moral absolutes in our secular humanist society .Rosanne
