The Importance of Communication

Communication is to relationships what sunshine is to  flowers. A regular dose is the lifeline that gently helps with continuous growth. There's non verbal communication: that knowing glance, a long warm hug, a gentle touch, etc. These can be very effective in an environment where words can't be spoken or when you both just want to enjoy the silence.

Then there are our words; remember its not what you say but how you say it that makes a huge difference. If you want to maintain or even start a relationship I implore you to say something. May not come out right, but if you matter to that individual they'd accept your fumbled effort over your silent distance.

An important aspect of communication is knowing how to listen (sometimes it seems I have lost a little of that gift)

  1. 46 years old married female. Dated from neighborhood and school (not a very good idea). Never chose a person because another was not availale and I do not believe in love at first site. There is a lot more to consider when it comes to a good relationship. Distance will ruin relationships no matter how strong they seem. (Been there done that). I had an excellent relationship with my parents growing up but it ruined as I got older. Some parents just don't know how to let their grown kids make some of their decisions. With that experience I know to stick to myself during conflict. My spouse and I have one thing in common, race only. Even if I knew and chose my spouse but after 15 years of marriage, I wouldn't do it again.
