Well I was a little surprised and actually quite intrigued to find this out. And as the first two words in the caption states, Love does matter. It matters enough that people would hope to find the answer to this crazy thing called love on the internet.
The bible sums it up neatly, as I think it provides the most complete definition of love. And no, this is not about religion, but if you have been fortunate to love or be loved, you know its everything mentioned below.
If you want love, then give love,..it starts with you.
Do you agree with this take on the definition of love?
WOW! I am really shocked that that was the most popular question on google, about love, and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
ReplyDeletereally tells it all, And if you love then you surely know what this passage not only reads but means to you..
@tisonlyme143
I believe that love is the main thing anyone has and really the only thing that matters in the very end.
ReplyDeleteLove you take with you.
Love is such a basic human need but unfortunately it is a mystery to most of us! Maybe we just need to quit analyzing and just enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWell that is a inspirational post, I really like the very first quote.
ReplyDeleteIt is also surprising that is the Google's most ask question. I guess I have learned something new today.
DeleteThat is very interesting. I have known the love of a husband and that is something that I really miss since he died. I have known the love of a daughter. She died last month and I miss her so much. I know that is better to be loved than to never know love.
DeleteIt doesn't surprise me that it was the most asked question....I'm almost 50 years old and I still wonder and ponder the same question. Sad to say, I still don't have a clue!
ReplyDeleteI believe we don't always allow ourselves to feel love. I think we believe we may not deserve it. There are few people in this world that I have truly felt like they loved me but I think that's my doing and not necessarily that others don't love me.
ReplyDeletealot people fear love and all that it brings!i truly believe love is all we have and crave ,its the driving force for mankind!
ReplyDeleteNice definitions of love. I still don't know what it is, for myself, never felt it, I think. Still hopeful.
ReplyDeleteLove should be authentic and be present in every conversation we hold at home, or in the office. It's typically the lesson, and usually part of the solution? Competent individuals typically have an ability to work with one another, and they are a privilege to know & be around thanks to a servant's heart, and.....Love.
ReplyDeleteLove is a beautiful word It has many meanings to it but people misinterpret the real idea of it.
ReplyDeleteIt is really hard to believe that that is googles most asked question. Kind of sad if you think about it.
ReplyDeleteLove is a deep connection with someone.
ReplyDeleteI too was surprised that this was the most asked question. It is kind of sad that people need to ask this.
ReplyDeleteI think it's sad that that is the most asked question. It shows me that not enough people have found love, whether it be with their partner, their neighbor, or more importantly. themselves.
ReplyDeleteI don't know and I've lived a very long time. If you find out, let me know, please.
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting on the answer to that question. I have asked several of my elders and also turned to the bible for some answers. However, I still don't know how to tell if love is real and will with stand the test of time.
ReplyDeleteHow sad that this is the most asked question on google...that people don't know love! I love the Corinthians definition of love!
ReplyDeleteI find it very interesting that was Google's most asked question! Although, for all I know, I may have googled it myself when I was younger. I absolutely believe this passage is a good summary of what love is. Sadly, I just got divorced but during my marriage I realized that our relationship contained very little of this bible passage. I wish I could find a love that demonstrates these ideals.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely interesting this was the most asked question. I love that piece though, one of my favorites about love by far and so unbelievably true
ReplyDeleteAmazing this is the most asked question. But again it is the one emotion that is thrown away so easily.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really surprised people want that question answered. I am surprised that they thought Google could tell them the answer, lol!
ReplyDeleteWow, I would have never expected that to be the most asked question! I guess everyone is looking for the sort of meaningful connection that love brings.
ReplyDeleteI always like to hear the Corinthians passage at weddings. It does sum Love up perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI believe the saying that you have to give love to get it. Too many people don't know when they have it.
ReplyDeleteKind of weird what people ask Google but I am a librarian and know they think it is the smartest thing ever and everything they see on the internet
ReplyDeleteis also "true"
Joy @ Books and Life
I agree with the verse,,, BUT can you replace love with your name???
ReplyDeleteIt is surprising that so many people are literally "searching" for love.To attract love you have to freely give it.
ReplyDeleteI am always interested in what people ask on google, but I would not have guessed that to be the #1. I would love a list of the oddest questions asked.
ReplyDeleteSo, that was Google's most asked question. I would think that ,the answer is so hard to explain.
ReplyDeleteI was suprised that this is the most asked question on Google! Yes, the Bible sums it up perfectly!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI find it really interesting that so many people googled that question, maybe just out of curiosity of what would come up? Either way, I think the Bible sums it up great. Love is a powerful being.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that is the most asked question, but I guess many of us are on a quest to find love. Hawaiians have several different words for love and I think they have it right-love is many different things to all people.
ReplyDeleteThat really surprises me that that's the most asked question. I can appreciate the definition but I dislike the source.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the classic definitions of love all right. (It was expressed most effectively in A Walk to Remember. Loved the movie!) But in the end love is all things to all people.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the notion that in order to receive love you must first give it. I believe that love is the willingness to give knowing you may not receive the same.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that it was google's most asked question in 2014. While I think that the definition of love in Corinthians in a very nice sentiment, I would encourage people to read Kahlil's Gibran's definition of Love in "The Prophet" for a more complete and nuanced take.
ReplyDeleteThis Bible verse totally sums it up. God is good and you can't go wrong by following His word. Thank you so much for sharing
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting! I love that verse. It is one of my favorite ones that I really think describes my husband!
ReplyDeleteWow! Who knew? Love is so powerful like a drug. Without it we are nothing, emotionless and empty...void of inner warmth.
ReplyDeleteThe simple touch of a hand, a gentle smile, a warm embrace...yes, that is love.
Very nice post - I've always liked this verse from Corinthians - It pretty much sums up everything about love
ReplyDeleteI do believe in this definition for sure but I also believe in a larger meaning. For me, it's looking at the World in the eyes of love too. Not just a romantic type of love but a love and acceptance of people. When I can do that, I'm in a much more positive and happy place. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great definition of love. Love is what makes the world go 'round and everyone needs love!
ReplyDeleteI do agree with this definition, Love is unconditional
ReplyDeletedeannankeller@yahoo.com
I do agree with this definition of love. Giving love makes me feel fulfilled and it lets others know I care for them. It shows other how to love as well, so they can go on to give love. Letting other know that you love them can do amazing things. When someone feels loved and appreciated, they can accomplish things they never felt capable of doing.
ReplyDeleteWhile it does surprise me that it was the most asked question on Google, it doesn't surprise me that it's such an important topic because that's really the reason why we are all here, to love, to learn how to love, to love ourselves, to love others, to be loved. There are many different kinds of love, but unconditional love is the highest love of all.
ReplyDeleteWhat is Love? I am surprised that that was the #1 question asked. I hope everyone gets to experience true love. Loving yourself is the most important one of all.
ReplyDeleteI too am surprised. I agree with definition of love given. There are so many types of love. But I believe we'll know love when we find it. Being loved feels so complete and makes for contentment.

I AGREE WITH THIS 100%. I STRIVE FOR THIS IN MY MARRIAGE. ALTHOUGH IT IS HARD SOMETIMES, I ALWAYS AM REMINDED OF THIS QUOTE
ReplyDeleteLove is everything! Romance and love are two very different things. I think most people are looking for the first while thinking they are looking for the latter.
ReplyDeleteIt is really interesting that was such a popular question. I agree with quote
ReplyDeleteWe need it now more than ever. I believe love is kindness and compassion.
ReplyDeleteSurprised me too. I agree, you have to give forth love and love yourself first
ReplyDeleteI agree that you have to give love to receive it -
ReplyDeletesame thing goes for respect - you treat everyone with respect - no matter who they are, where they come from, their race, their position in society, etc
:)
Oh but I forgot to add that respect is a two way street.
ReplyDeleteYou deserve as much respect as you give others.
:)
I am really shocked that this was the most asked question. For the simple fact that nobody can tell you what love is. Love is something that you feel. It can happen once or multiple times in your life. There are also different types of love. I love my husband, but I also love my child.
ReplyDeleteI think that love is different for everyone but I like the message that the quote is sharing. Now only if they had an answer to "What will make me happy"...

There is no safe investment. To love at all is to be vulnerable.... ~ C. S. Lewis
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that so many would not know but that so many would realize that they don't know what love is.
ReplyDeleteIn order to love others better you must first love yourself. I had to learn that the hard way. Now I look from within for my peace and love.
ReplyDeleteI believe that love is the main thing anyone has and really the only thing that matters in the very end.
ReplyDeleteLove you take with you.
Love is a tender trap and really shines when reciprocated but a sin when wasted. To love and be loved is the greatest gift anyone could wish for.
ReplyDeletePJ

I don't know that love can be defined for all people by one saying. Love means different things to different people.
ReplyDeleteGod is the author and perfector of love, so we need to look to Him as well in order to define what Love is and looks like, then rest in that.
ReplyDeleteThat honestly didn't surprise me. Love is confusing, but it's so worth it <3
ReplyDeleteEveryone deserves to love and be loved. There are too many lonely people in this world and it is so sad.
ReplyDeleteLove cannot really be defined, as the vocabulary to define it doesn*t exist. The closest I*ve heard is that the happiness of the other person is more important than your own. It*s the closest I*ve come to answering that question.
ReplyDeleteLove is such a large concept that encapsulates so much that I think we have a hard time wrapping our heads around it. We just need to simplify it, that love is everywhere!
ReplyDeleteLove is such a loose term and used for so many different things it is hard to give it a definite definition. Love is a strong emotion overall.
ReplyDeleteYes, I believe the verses quoted from 1 Corinthians do encompass most of what love is ... concerning a fellow human. Although, concerning love for God, I might add an additional scripture which many people do not know about: 1 John 5:19 - "This is what the love of God means, that we obey his commandments." So indeed, not unlike chapter 13 in the first letter to the Corinthians, love is not just a feeling, but involves action and obedience.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see love as the most asked question. Love makes the world go round. Everyone needs some kind of love in their life.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn
Wow! I'm surprised that was the most asked question on Google! But then again, everyone looks for love.
ReplyDeleteLove is so timeless, so beautiful, so mysterious.. I know so many are searching for it, but to ask Google? Come on.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteLove is endless <3
I am glad it's such a meaningful question people are looking up and it's not something really superficial. Love is the most important thing in life!!

For all of us who have children, I believe we really find love when they are placed in our arms. It is something hard to explain but you will be there for them, help them, guide them and hold a special place in our heart always for them. It is a miracle and a gift from God that we cherish
ReplyDeleteI personally don´t buy into the Bible much at all so I am actually shocked that this was the most discussed thing on Google in 2014. That being said, love is a commitment. Feelings come and go, but a commitment lasts for ever. When you leave your dirty socks on my floor, I might not FEEL love, but the commitment of love is still there.
ReplyDeleteLove between a parent and child is completely different than love between spouses. That love is a feeling and it begins at conception and nothing breaks it, ever. It is the strongest love and feeling a person can experience. It singularly brings the most joy while having the capacity to break your heart in more pieces than is possible to imagine. It is amazing!
I don't think I'm terribly surprised thats the most asked question of 2014. I know after every broken heart and every new relation I always question what love is. 1st Corinthians describes love perfectly!

Love should be unconditional. The world would be a better place if everyone loved more instead of hating.
ReplyDeleteGreat write up, definitely makes you think about things. Thanks for the insight!
ReplyDeleteGood question... Anyone got an answert? lol :D
ReplyDeleteit is hard to believe people googled that the most
ReplyDeleteI would have thought it would be something more practical.
DeleteI believe that its the most asked question. Many people search a long time to find love.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this but mostly always felt that love is unconditional.
ReplyDeleteWith the way things are going in the world, people are losing the real love. They don't know what it is, how to feel, what you feel. True love is disappearing slowly. The things you do to show your love,,,,you have to watch videos from years ago to see how people show their love and the real reactions, different than today's world. Love means many things and feelings to everyone.
ReplyDeleteKind of sad that is the most asked question. Leads me to believe that there is not enough of it in the world.
ReplyDeleteThank you for incorporating the Bible's definition of love. It is so concise, complete and leaves nothing to the imagination. We are the ones who make it complicated.
ReplyDeleteThe Corinthians passage does sum love very well. I look around and see love in all I can see -- from people and animals, from nature, and from God. What an awful place this world would be, without love.
DeleteI feel everyone know what is love. maybe they just forgot it. Better or next question would be, where is love? :D.
ReplyDeletePersonal thought - it means different things to different people. It is shown in different ways - what one person might see/feel as love, another doesn't see/feel it at all
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that was the most popular question. I do totally believe in that Biblical definition of love and I remind my daughter of it once in awhile so that she'll know what to look for in a husband.
ReplyDeletetell everyone you love them today, Tomorrow may be to late. I am so sorry I never got to tell my husband I love you. one last time before he passed.
ReplyDeleteI believe it. Hard to live up to though.
ReplyDeleteThe Greeks have four words for love. One is for the love of the familiar (home), another for brotherly love (friendship), another for erotic love (spouse), and another for Godly love.
ReplyDeleteI would not guess that as the most asked question of the year. I guess love is a difficult concept.
ReplyDeleteNice Post.
ReplyDeleteI think love needs to start within oneself (I'm not talking about the narcissistic kind). If you can't love yourself, how can you expect anyone to love you?
ReplyDeleteI love that scripture and read it to my kids often when They Are having a hardbtimebgetting along. The Bible is such a wonderful resource to. learn about love. It also says to love others was we love ourselves, so yes, I do believe love starts within us.

ReplyDeleteIt is sad that we have to ask what love is, we are all deserving of love and should know what it is.
ReplyDeleteI feel the first quote for sure. I would rather pour my heart out to you and you tell me I have no chance. Than to say nothing and never know if maybe there was a chance. We all deserve love.
ReplyDeleteI love that this bible verse explains love to the fullest extent . Its very unfournate that we tend to not listen to the verse though and do keep records of being wronged rather then forgiving quickly :)

ReplyDeleteIt's sad that some people don't know what true love is. That is one of my favorite bible verses.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting how often that question is Googled! I definitely agree; the more love you hold in your heart for others, the more love you are able to accept!
ReplyDeleteI would of never in a million years though that was the most asked question. I learned the true meaning of Love the first second I held my first child
ReplyDeleteI'm actually surprised that was the most asked question. I do really like of the comments in response.
ReplyDeleteIn most cases yes I completely agree. But you do have those people in the world that no matter how much you love them they will never reciprocate the feelings. Sadly I know someone like that and honestly it's a sad existence.
ReplyDeleteIn most cases yes I completely agree. But you do have those people in the world that no matter how much you love them they will never reciprocate the feelings. Sadly I know someone like that and honestly it's a sad existence.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty surprising to be the most searched question. And, yes, I love that bible verse. We could definitely use a lot more love in this world right now.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I think one of the best summaries of love is wanting the best for someone, whether you like them or not. I'm not referring to romantic "love", which I personally find to be one of the applications of the term that carries the least strength... but to a purer love, which is love of fellow sentient beings.
ReplyDeleteGod bless,
Miles
"It is better to have said too much--" YES. There's a line I love from the movie, As Good as it Gets: "The best thing you have going for you is your willingness to humiliate yourself." I hope to keep that thing going in my life always.
ReplyDeleteLove is being kind to others.
ReplyDeleteslehan at juno dot com
i beleive love has been taught to be mainly something as romantic by the media, and bringing it back to being caring deeply about someone else, is great. love can be between anyone, as long as you care enough
ReplyDeleteWow! I am shocked like you and most people on here that that is the most asked question on Google. I guess it's very intriguing that so many people don't know or aren't quite sure about what love is. I think it's very inspiring that so many people want to know what love is and are searching for answers and are open to possibilities. I think that shows how much compassion, empathy, and kindness that is out there. It's very reassuring that true love does exist and it's out there. Great post!
ReplyDeleteWell, I am not all that surprised that is the most asked question. Love can be hard to define especially if you are young.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who started singing, "Baby, don't hurt me... don't hurt me no more" after seeing that question? :-) I wouldn't have thought that would be the most asked question.
ReplyDeleteI agree that if both partners would give love to the other they would always be getting it back. Relationships would last longer and the rate of divorce would go down. People go into a relationship nowadays thinking there is always a way out if they don't get along but of they went into it thiking " I want this to work and I am willing to sacrifice a few things that aren't even important to make it work" things would be so much better. Love is patient and kind and understanding. If you truelly love someone you will want to make them happy and will be happy in return.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that if you put out love, you will receive it back. It's the same with negativity, so I always try to stay positive, even when times are tough.
ReplyDeleteLove is the single most intangible thing in the universe that everybody longs to feel.
ReplyDeleteI love this verse from The Bible!
ReplyDeletei think love is thinking and feeling with your heart instead of your head. there are so many ways to show love if you feel it!
ReplyDeleteI agree this post and i like the verse from Bible. Google help everyone to find all the answers from Planet Earth.
ReplyDeletevery inspirational. keep going!
ReplyDeletethe fact that this is the most asked Q is somehow a shock ...
ReplyDeletealthough its not a surprise that most people want to know what love really is ...
we all experienced some kind of emotions that we claim to be "Love" ...
but is it really true ?! ...
i mean everybody's definition of love is different from the other ...
maybe that's why all these people hoped that uncle Google has a better and final answer xD ...
I think that Love isn't can something you can limit to words. It means different for everyone and that's great, not everyone needs or wants the same type of love as everyone else. I think the better question we can ask is "what is love TO YOU?" so we would know what the person we care about wants and needs, as well as answer the same to ourselves so others know what we expect.
ReplyDeleteI cannot say I am surprised the most popular question was, "What is Love?". There are hints people contemplated about what love is throughout history, just look at the mythology and true stories around the world. In the bible, the earliest record of love is in Genesis with Adam and Eve. Many of our well-loved fables have an element of love integrated in the words. I believe love is a label created as an attempt to generalize the complexity of emotions people feel associated with it.

Love is many things to different people. Love is happiness, or contentment, or companionship, or success, or comfort, or who knows.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was an interesting post. I like the images/memes. Good one.
ReplyDeleteDo to the technological advances of the 21st century, I feel that the definition of love has changed drastically. Today's generation sees love as a few likes on a post on social media.
ReplyDeleteLove is family friends and God. Unconditional love is what we strive for. During this season you can feel the love in the air.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the Beatles and The End lyrics from Abbey Road....And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. ~Songwriters
ReplyDeleteLennon, John Winston / Mccartney, Paul James
Love is Trust not lust. Todays youth doesn't even realize this ...how sad
ReplyDeleteLove these so much. we said the Love is Patient one at our wedding. So important to remember these things
ReplyDeleteI've never actually been in love. I certainly hope to be one day. But the love I have for my nephew has really been incredible. I've always loved the kids I babysit far more than most people would, but I love my nephew even more. I want to do whatever I can to make that little boy happy. Everywhere I go, I think of what he would think of whatever I see.
ReplyDeleteI like inspirational quotes. These are lovely. I'll have to bookmark this page and revisit it later.
ReplyDeleteGod is love and He is all that matters! And yes, usually in relationships if you want love, you need to give it!
ReplyDeletelove is patient. being in love is the best thing ever. i am so happy that i read this.
ReplyDeleteLove to me is my two children, even tho they're 24 and 19. And love is especially my 2 year old grandson. This time of year there are reminders all around us of love everywhere we look. But we should remember that love year round, not just on holidays and special occasions.
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting, but I'm wondering if the people looking up this question are looking for the song lyrics because now I got "What is love? Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me...." stuck in my head, lol!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes... I sure do. Love is easy to teach a child when you teach them this verse. We need to show Love everyday.
ReplyDeleteBailey Dexter I was really surprise as for the most asked question. There are so many different kinds of love as well as being in love!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI defintley agree but i feel as though love is a different definition to different people . I feel as though That as a human we need and crave love.
ReplyDeleteyes I agree...if you yourself have love then you are able to receive and give it freely.
ReplyDeleteIt is surprising that is the Google's most ask question. I'd never thought about that.
ReplyDeleteI guess like the other comments, I too am surprised, that is Googles most asked question, but I think universally everyone just wants to be loved.
ReplyDeleteCan you love and be loved? Do you have to love Tao be loved? And to try and explain what love is well I don't believe there is a universal answer... Everyone will have their own perception on such a huge conceit as love, based on their life experiences.
ReplyDeleteI used to believe that there was ONE soulmaye here for each of us.... With age and experience i don't think that anymore. It is a beautiful notion but I believe that we can have many soulmates in one lifetime. Love for me changed when I had my son I know know the word love in its truest and purest form.... Now THAT'S beautiful :)
With out Love there is only emptiness. I feel too many people in the world are giving into hate and if they would let Love into their heart the world would be a better place
ReplyDeleteLove is grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteLove requires a commitment to be patient, understanding, tolerant and all the other things mentioned in the Bible. Too many people are more concerned with themselves than in making the commitment necessary to truly love and be loved.
ReplyDeleteDefining love is like defining fruit. There is so many types and strengths. The basic defination of love is correct then it needs to be stretched.
ReplyDeleteDefining love is like defining fruit. There is so many types and strengths. The basic defination of love is correct then it needs to be stretched.
ReplyDeleteThis definition of love is good but just giving love to get love is not enough. You need to have respect and friendship too.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs a connection with love. Education helps everyone love better so this is great.
ReplyDeleteWe all need more love in the world. If everyone was more intent on expressing love, then maybe we wouldn't have all these groups like the mideast terrorists!
ReplyDeleteReally is hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteI know most people are searching for love and never find true love, true love is God giving His one and only Son Jesus to die for our sins.
ReplyDeletei guess its good that something so meaningful is the most asked about. i think love is so hard to explain because it is a feeling.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Quote.but there are many types of love.
ReplyDeleteThe bible gives us the answer of what love should be. Too bad we (people) keep making mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI'm not religious so this is the first I'm seeing of this, but it sounds exactly like love. A LOT of people mistake LUST for love! Two TOTALLY different things.
ReplyDeleteHow sad that this is the most asked question on google.
